Junior School Educational Visits

Educational visits form an important part of an LVS Junior School child’s time with us. We firmly believe in the importance of these trips which extend, enrich and support the curriculum as well as further inspiring and motivating the children.

Regular visits are arranged for all year groups to places of cultural, historical, geographical and scientific interest, as well as visits to theatres in the local area and in London. We also invite many different outside agencies into the school, such as the Young Shakespeare Company to give the children the opportunity to take part in workshops within the school itself.

Residential Visits

We believe that residential visits are a vital extension of school life and work. All Year 4, 5 and 6 children take part in residential trips to New Barn Field Centre, Hooke Court and Manor Adventure respectively. These visits give the children the opportunity to get to know each other better outside the classroom environment and to focus on becoming more independent as well as learning to work together as a team.

The Year 4 and 5 trips offer an extension to the topic work the children have been studying in class and give them the chance to experience aspects of the curriculum in more depth, using a real hands on approach to learning. The Year 6 visit to Manor Adventure focuses more on encouraging greater independence, self-confidence and self-reliance through activities such as: archery, orienteering, canoeing, kayaking, team building, raft building, ropes courses, etc.

The main outcome of all these visits away is that the children learn new skills and, most importantly, have great fun together with their peers and the staff who accompany them.
