This week is Book Week, and what better way to celebrate at LVS Ascot than having two well-known authors drop in for a chat?
Children’s writer Mark Robson was the first to visit the school, coming in on Monday 1st March to talk to Year 7, 8 and 9 students before sitting down for a book-signing session with lots of his young fans.
Mark is famous for his popular Dragon’s Orb series and has written many successful bestsellers. After the book signing, he held an interview with three Year 7 students from the LVS school magazine, LiVeS: Georgia, 11, Sara, 12, and Hannah, 11.
He said: “I always enjoy visiting schools, and you were a really great audience. It’s great to be able to engage with your readers.”
The second visitor was poet Andrew Fusek Peters, who arrived on Wednesday 3rd March to run a writing workshop with the LVS Sixth Form.
Andrew, known as the ‘Tall Poet’, writes poetry, novels and plays, and has written and edited over 70 titles with partner Polly Peters.
Students said the workshop was “fantastic”, and jumped at the chance to get their signed books when Andrew also held a signing at the end of his workshop.
