LVS Infants Meet Linda The Fire Fighter

Children at LVS Junior School had a visit from the Royal Berkshire Fire Service in May to learn how to keep safe in a fire.

Community Safety Advisor Linda came in to talk to LVS pupils on Wednesday 12th May, and told them about matches and lights, and that they must try never to breathe in smoke.

Year 1, aged 5 and 6, especially enjoyed the day. They watched a video about Francis the Firefly, and then dressed up their teacher, Miss Mullins, in a fire fighter’s suit and helmet.

Charlotte G and Katie H, 6, said: “Linda told us pictures of things we should not do in fires and we learnt that if you are on fire you must stop, drop and roll.”

Tom D, 6, wrote a letter to Linda to say thank you for her visit. He said: “Thank you for teaching us about crawling on the ground and not to play with matches. Love from Tom.”
