LVS Ascot parents invited to interactive Open Day
LVS Ascot Senior School hosted its very first interactive Open Day on 29 June, showcasing the range of subjects and co-curricular activities to current and prospective parents over a fun-filled afternoon.
The school opened its doors so that every subject area was on display, along with information about the courses being taught and specific activities and demonstrations.
“Parents were invited to visit the school to see learning in action”, explains Head of Senior School, Graham Best.
“A popular subject area on display was science. One student performed an animal heart dissection to explain to parents how the heart works. It gained a lot of interest from pupils, parents and even grandparents!
“Visitors to the school had the opportunity to join in Spanish karaoke, watch rockets being designed or take on their children in a maths challenge. There were also sports displays, a twenty20 cricket match and drama workshops to enjoy.”
Parent feedback from the Open Day was that they not only enjoyed seeing what the school had to offer but got to participate in learning themselves.
“We have not done anything quiet like this before and it was very well received by the parents and may become a regular event,” said Graham.
