LVS Ascot students celebrate A Level success
Students at the LVS Ascot were celebrating today after achieving an excellent set of A Level results.
56% of entries were awarded A* - B grades, above the national average of 52.2%. The new A* grade accounted for 10% of results (national average 8.1%) while A* and A grades combined totalled 28.7%, above the UK figure of 27%.
A*- C grades accounted for 75% of results and the overall pass rate was 96.5%, both in line with the UK figure.
6 out of the 69 candidates who sat for exams at the non-selective independent school gained at least 2 A*s amongst other grades. These included:
- Paul Ibbet who achieved 3 A*s in German, Chemistry and Biology. Paul, who is going to read Biomedical Sciences at Southampton University, also received an A* in the Extended Project, and a B in German.
- Cameron Griffiths will read Medicine next year after achieving 3 A*s in Physics, Maths and Biology, an A in Chemistry and a Grade A in German at AS Level.
- Sam Bendel was awarded 2 A*s for Media and Business Studies and 2 As in PE and German. Sam is going to read Psychology at Southampton University.
- Elliot Sturgeon is studying Maths and Economics at Bristol University having achieved 2 A*s in Maths and Further Maths, and 2 As in Physics and Economics.
- Cecily Millwater will read Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University after achieving 2 A*s in Maths and Further Maths, and an A in Physics.
- Rosie Broadhead achieved 2 A*s in Art and Textiles and 1 B in English Literature and is going to read Art Foundation at Kingston University.
