Sixth Form students set to sail on Tall Ships!

Award winners and interviewers from left to right: Atticus K, Conrad H, Mr Mellery-Pratt, Rosie M, Mr Michael Vass, Sarah Y, Emily M and Mr Duncan Hewson. Absent: Matthew B

Six 6th Form students at LVS Ascot are set to sail a trip of a lifetime, having won the Worshipful Company of Innholders (WCI) Award to partake in sail training on the Tall Ships.

Sailing the English Channel (dependent on winds!) are Atticus K, Conrad H, Rosie M, Sarah Y, Matthew B and Emily M, all of whom are looking forward to the opportunity which is valued at £600 per person.

Duncan Hewson, Head of 6th Form, explains: “The students applied by submitting their CVs, which was followed by interviews with 2 members of the WCI, Mr Mellery-Pratt and Mr Michael Vass, and myself.

“They were asked questions about their contribution to school life, achievements, plans for the future and their thoughts on how they would benefit from winning the award.

“Applicants were also examined on the history of the WCI which dates back to the original Innholders of the Square Mile in London in the early 1500s.”

The sailing trip is planned to take place this October.
