Independent Learning

LVS seeks to build all our students into “independent learners”, giving them the skills they will need to cope with further and higher education and our ever growing information society.  All Year 7 pupils have an LRC lesson once a fortnight throughout their first year at LVS, learning to use all the resources and learning skills.  

Year 12 students also undergo LRC induction at the beginning of their sixth form studies.  Study skills takes place through PSHE in all years.  Our skills programmes fulfil the requirements of the Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills in the new National Curriculum.
