Drama
The drama department offers a wide range of popular and exciting extra-curricular activities ranging from small scale student led performances to large scale productions involving over 100 students. These activities are considerably enhanced by our wonderful facilities and the expertise and experience of our teaching staff.
The Back Stage Club
At the ‘Back Stage Club’, students have the opportunity to work with our theatre manager learning how to design and operate sophisticated lighting and sound desks. Set design and construction is also encouraged so that as the students progress through the school they become a vital part of major school productions.
The Drama Studio
The smaller and more intimate Drama Studio is used by our Junior Drama Club members taken from Years 7, 8 and 9. They are encouraged to become involved in a variety of drama activities leading to participating in our annual major junior production.
Student Productions
Our major productions are open to all students and we provide a variety of theatrical opportunities for them. Students are encouraged to produce their own shows, and the Sixth Form Pantomime and a pupil led variety show have become annual events.
The House Drama Cup
Those students who may lack the confidence to take part in a school production are encouraged to participate in our House Drama Competition, which offers both individual and groups the chance to show their talents and help win either an individual trophy or the coveted House Drama Cup.
Theatre Visits
Further afield students are offered the opportunity to visit the West End or attend any of the many other theatre trips on offer.
Foreign residential trips, for example to Greece, offer an extra dimension to the students knowledge and enjoyment of theatre.
