The music department offers an extensive extra-curricular programme available to pupils of all ages and ability.

School Choirs
There are five school choirs:
Year 7 choir
Year 8 choir
Year 9 choir
Senior/Staff choir
"Cassiopeia" octet
More than 120 students sing regularly in these choirs performing in competitions, recitals and services. Previous performances have taken place in prestigious venues such as Eton College Chapel and Wellington College Chapel and have included works by Karl Jenkins (Requiem and The Armed Man), Mozart (Requiem) and Vivaldi (Gloria).
Every year, LVS enters two senior school choirs and a choir from the junior school into The National Music for Youth competition in London and has often been praised for excellent ensemble skills and a strong, well-balanced male section which is nationally rare. Each summer, the Years 7-9 choirs perform on the Fantasy stage at Disneyland Paris - a wonderful two day trip to finish the year.
Young Musician of LVS
Throughout the year, the department hosts a House music competition, a 'Young Musician of LVS' competition, a range of recitals and concerts including a once a term week of "music in the street" and at least one large scale musical. Previous shows have included "Grease", "Godspell", "Bugsy Malone", "The Wiz" and "South Pacific".
Theatre Facilities
To enhance the quality of our productions and concerts we are fortunate to have an extremely impressive theatre with state of the art facilities supported by a full time theatre technician and AV technician. The department also has a recital room, a fully equipped music technology room and a professional recording studio to enable students to study at AS and A2 Music technology level.
School Orchestra and Ensemble
The music department has a Senior School Orchestra and string groups as well as a Rock School which takes place after school on Wednesdays for budding rock musicians who want to time to improvise and share ideas with other like-minded musicians. To stimulate Junior School pupils to play in ensembles and experience instrumental lessons, we offer free group violin tuition from Year 2 and group recorder and fife lessons from Year 3.
There are sixteen instrumental staff in the department who provide individual music lessons to more than 240 students on range of orchestral and non-orchestral instruments.
