Pastoral Support
Developing Individuals
Whilst it would be wonderful to hope that all young people of 16 to 18 years of age are responsible, self-motivated, reliable and independent students, the reality can be a different story. Our aim at LVS Ascot is to provide the right teaching and learning environment, alongside an appropriate structure of expectations, that help students to develop and to become not only better students but better people.
Sixth Form Tutors
At the heart of this ambition is a very strong and committed team of specialist Sixth Form Mentors to whom students are assigned. Students remain affiliated to their existing House and new students will be welcomed into one of the four vertical Houses. For many students this is an in an opportunity to have a real and positive influence on younger students within their House.
In order to support the work of our Mentors there are four Assistant Heads of Sixth Form that take responsibility for students in each one of the four Houses:
Bells House: Dr Paul Hodges
Courage House: Mr Johann Swanepoel
Gilbey House (Boarders): Mrs Donna Lister
Whitbread House: Mrs Paula Read
The overall responsibility for the direction and success of the Sixth Form resides with the Head of Sixth Form, Mr Duncan Hewson, who may be contacted via School Reception.
Linking Parents and School
Mentors are invaluable in acting as a direct link between parents and the school. By working closely together they can help students navigate their way around the many pitfalls that modern teenage life presents to them. We take pride in fostering a positive and friendly partnership with parents and Mentors value the communication they have with parents.
