Jabari - Sixth Form Boarder

Jabari
As soon as he saw LVS Ascot, Jabari was bowled over by the facilities, particularly the pool and the campus environment. He liked the structure of the boarding houses and settled in immediately. He loved meeting fellow boarders and was pleased to find there were other children from similar backgrounds who understood him straight away.
Jabari enjoyed his time in the various boarding houses as he moved through the school, with each of them providing a different experience. Over the years his parents have moved around in Europe and the UK, so LVS Ascot was his home.
“I would recommend boarding 100%. It’s like a family and it gets you prepared for university. If I could go back and do it all again… I gladly would!”
“The school were really supportive and they were always understanding about how many things I do”
Jabari studied A-Level Drama, BTEC Media, and BTEC Sport in the Sixth Form and he received the Spirit of LVS Scholarship Award for Sport.
Running is a big part of Jabari’s life and he is determined to get to the Olympics. He took full advantage of the facilities at LVS Ascot to help his fitness. He also regularly trained at the nearby athletics track in Bracknell. He enjoyed being able to play in the teams at the school and their year-round competitions. However, despite his extensive co-curricular activities, Jabari didn’t let his academic studies slide.
“The school were always really supportive and they were really understanding about how many things I do. If I ever had extra questions, or needed a one-to-one, they were always happy to help.”
Aside from sports and his studies, Jabari enjoyed drama and the performing arts. As well as performing in school productions, Jabari also pursued his interest in drama outside school. He attended courses and camps, and he auditioned for television shows. He found that having a working theatre at the school made a big difference. “Being in an actual theatrical space really changes everything”, he says.
Jabari was proud to be our Head Boy and threw everything into his campaign to be elected. He found his experience in the performing arts helped with that. He enjoyed giving speeches and creating huge posters, and even a campaign video. He was determined to leave no stone unturned, and his drive and determination paid off when he was elected.
Jabari credits his parents and his house masters and mistress as his role models and motivators. He plans to stay in touch with his teachers, as well as his friends, in the future.
“In the supportive atmosphere, pupils are polite and thoughtful and apply themselves purposefully to their studies.”
