Celebration Day Marks End Of Junior School Academic Year
A fantastic Celebration Day on the penultimate day of term brought the academic year to a close for the LVS Ascot Juniors.
The formal ceremony in the sports hall was introduced by Head Boy Miles and Head Girl Abigail, and provided the opportunity for each class in every year to recognise a student for progress and another for achievement.
These were followed by subject prizes along with academic, art and sport scholarship awards as the school recognised the amazing work and persistence shown by pupils since September. The new Head Boy and Head Girl, Oliver and Matilda, were announced much to their surprise and delight, and congratulations to both of them on their well-earned new roles. Oliver said: “I was really shocked and didn’t expect it at all. I love being here and am really proud of the school”.
“It has been absolutely incredible seeing the little ones right from Reception through to Year 6 having their special achievements recognised and seeing the confidence of tiny people getting up in front of a room full of adults”.
Mrs Portsmouth, Parent
Appropriately the ceremony concluded with the Junior School choir singing ‘Try Everything’, something which they have done throughout their varied and inspiring curriculum this year in which they have demonstrated related Learning Values and Skills such as risk taking and resilience.
After the formal aspect, parents decamped to the junior school playground to enjoy a relaxed and social picnic whilst watching every pupil in the junior school take part in song and dance performances.
The superb performances were the result of lots of hard work, with a choreographer having visited the school earlier in the term to work with each class on their routine, and practice made perfect as parents watched a series of entertaining pieces to round off the day and year.
