Hear From One of Armed Forces Students...

Our recent Head of Boarding, Abhas, joined LVS Ascot in Year 7. Abhas says his boarding experience at LVS Ascot has prepared him for the future.

“I learned how to take care of myself… and just be myself as well. They are pretty important skills, and they were my top priorities.”

The co-curricular activities and teambuilding exercises he did when he first joined the school helped him settle in quickly, build confidence, and make new friends.

As Head of Boarding, he got to support others by making sure they got any help they needed with studies, sports, or making friends. “Boarding at LVS Ascot is not just ‘sleeping at school’, it’s more like a family,” he says.

Hear From One of Armed Forces Students...

Jabari was a recent Head Boy and he joined the school as a boarder in Year 7. His family moved around a lot when he was younger as they are in the armed forces. LVS Ascot was able to offer him a stable and nurturing environment. Jabari was also keen to find a solid friendship group and says he made lifelong friends at the school.

The duties of being Head Boy may have taken up some of Jabari’s free time, but he studied hard for his A-Levels. He is also a keen athlete and has his sights set on the 2028 Olympics. He says LVS Ascot supported him to work towards that goal.

UK Armed Forces Discount

LVS Ascot is proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging to support families in the Armed Forces.

LVS Ascot offers a 20% discount off day and boarding fees for those currently working in the armed forces or those who have done so in the past for five years consecutively.

The school also provides a discount on its fees to families eligible for the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA).

The CEA scheme rules require families to pay a minimum of 10% of the school fees and the CEA covers 90% up to a capped amount.  Once that cap is reached, we discount our school fees so that LVS Ascot parents pay the required 10% of the discounted amount.  For a boarding pupil around only £100 per month and for a day pupil even less!

If you are currently in the armed forces, you may be able to claim a Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) to help pay for your child’s fees.  More information is available from  GOV UK’s Children’s Education Advisory Service (CEAS).

For military families who are not eligible for the CEA, LVS Ascot is proud to offer the discount of 20% on fees.

To apply for the above, an application must be made to register your child through the Admissions team.

E-mail: admissions@lvs.ascot.sch.uk  or call 01344 882770.

Our staff will guide you through the process. We can also advise as to whether discounts, scholarships and bursaries can be combined.

Our day and boarding students benefit from all the extra-curricular activities listed below. At weekends there are often extra activities and trips organised just for boarders. Examples of these are ice-skating, visits to the coast and historic places of interest, theme parks or playing dodgeball. In the summer months there is usually a Boarders’ BBQ with outdoor games and water slides.

Well-being Centre

Well-being

Pastoral care for all students at LVS Ascot is excellent, and none more so than within our boarding community. The school has a bespoke Health and Well-being Centre (HAWC) on its campus, which provides triage throughout the school for all medical issues and concerns, and is staffed by qualified medical professionals. This means if there is any injury, illness or medication required during the school day, our nurses and other staff are on hand to offer help and advice. There are also single bedrooms to keep ill boarders overnight if required, and our international boarders are registered with our local GP service if ever a doctor is required.

In addition, within the HAWC there is our Well-being Hub, a welcoming and calming space where students can drop in during the school day for a chat if they are feeling overwhelmed or anxious. This facility supports their social, emotional and mental health needs and students can visit to share their feelings and receive guidance on managing anxiety positively, and learn stress-relieving techniques and undertake mindfulness activities. Our on-site counsellors are also available for appointments if needed.

Our three children are spread across three boarding Houses at LVS, but each feel at home and thoroughly enjoy the LVS boarding community. All the LVS boarding staff are fantastic as one team – supporting and guiding our children, and making boarding life the fun it should be. We can’t recommend boarding at LVS more highly!
