Outdoor Learning

Our Infant & Junior School students regularly visit our on site forest school as part of their weekly timetable.

LVS Ascot is set in 26 acres of beautiful parkland with both an outdoor learning area and a Forest School site. Weekly Forest School and outdoor sessions are timetabled for all pupils in Reception through to Year 6.  Sessions are run by qualified Forest School Leaders who also have many years of experience teaching inside and outside the classroom.

We are delighted to offer Forest School throughout the Infant & Junior School, providing the children with an essential opportunity to develop their confidence and boost their self-esteem through hands-on learning in a woodland environment. Our wonderful Forest School Site backs onto our picturesque lake where there is an abundance of wildlife. Activities such as cooking, den building, campfires and using a variety of tools offers children new experiences, opportunities to take risks, build resilience and communicate with each other.  We passionately believe Forest School helps to develop a range of life skills that will support them throughout their school journey and into adulthood.  We aim for our pupils to leave Forest School with resilience in life, a strong mental health and growth mindset.

Lessons at LVS Ascot often taken place outdoors regardless of the subject but we are fortunate enough to also have an outdoor classroom, including a beautiful timber gazebo providing seating, shade and shelter during lessons. The classroom is nestled alongside our pond and nature area, where the children grow produce in the polytunnels and raised beds.
